Yesterday, a Virginia Department of Transportation contractor began to close the low-water, single-lane bridge on Route 628 (Butler Store Road) over the Hazel River in Culpeper County.

The closure is necessary to clear debris left from the remnants of Hurricane Debby.

The work is expected to last two days, and the bridge will reopen to traffic on both evenings at 5 p.m.

The bridge is 1.2 miles from Route 611 (Waterford Road) and 0.1 miles to Route 640 (Monumental Mills Road).
