Chesterfield County: Teen dies from injuries in single-vehicle accident on Route 288

Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Friday on Route 288 southbound near Chester Road.

At approximately 10:41 p.m., a 2024 Ford F-150 traveling south on Route 288 ran off the left side of the road. The vehicle left the roadway near the bridge and struck an embankment beyond the railroad tracks.

The driver, David William Stanley, 19, of Chesterfield County, who VSP reports was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
