Charlottesville Free Trolley to resume service to Downtown Mall

AFP

trolleyThe Charlottesville Area Transit Free Trolley will soon end a long term detour. On Monday, the Free Trolley will resume service to 2nd Street on the Downtown Mall.

The detour, which had been in place since January, required the Free Trolley to use Ridge McIntire Road. Construction on the Violet Crown Cinema had prevented the Free Trolley from using 2nd Street.

With service resuming across the mall, patrons will now have direct access to the Free Trolley route at the corner of 2nd Street SW and West Main Street, bus stop #17305 (near Christian’s Pizza).

The Free Trolley, which is free to ride, operates seven days a week, connecting the University of Virginia’s Central Grounds with downtown Charlottesville. Service operates every fifteen minutes Monday through Saturday beginning at 6:35 AM and ending at 11:32 PM. On Sundays, the service operates every twenty to thirty minutes from 8:00 AM to 5:47 PM.
