BRITE Bus announces Staunton transit service improvements

staunton virginiaBRITE Bus, Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro’s transit service, is introducing significant improvements to Staunton’s trolley and bus service beginning May 31.

The Staunton Green Trolley has been renamed the Downtown Trolley, and will continue to be operated by a “trolley-type” vehicle.  In the summer months, the Downtown Trolley will service its current route Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM., and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. An additional Saturday Night Trolley route has been added, replacing the Red Trolley route. This new route will serve destinations in downtown Staunton, as well as many of the Red Trolley’s previous stops, and will operate from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday nights.

The Silver Trolley route has been split into two 30 minute routes named the West Loop and North Loop, returning to the Lewis Street Transit Hub every thirty minutes, making transfers to the Downtown Trolley, the 250 Connector, and the Blue Ridge Community College Shuttle more convenient for riders.  The Loop Routes’ evening hours have been extended, and will now operate from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday. The Loop routes will be operated by a BRITE bus.

Schedules that include pick up and drop off times, and a map of the routes are available by request from the bus drivers, or can be downloaded at www.britebus.org. Questions about these improvements should be directed to BRITE customer service at (540) 943-9302.

BRITE Bus offers fixed-route and on-demand transportation in the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro area. Services are administered by the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC) with operational recommendations provided by the BRITE Transit Advisory Committee (BTAC).
