Bridgewater College ran its winning streak to six Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over the Juniata College Eagles.

Freshman southpaw Corey Armentrout was impressive in his first collegiate start as he allowed just one earned run and five hits in seven innings on the mound. He struck out seven and walked one to improve to 2-1 on the season.

BC scored all the runs it would need with two in the second. Jay Thompson doubled and Andrew Hacker followed with a run-scoring single to put the host team on the board. Hacker moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Nuttycombe and scored on a single by Derrik Walling for a 2-0 BC lead.

Bridgewater added a run in the third when Devon Snow doubled, moved to third on a fly ball and scored on Jonathan Mason’s groundout to make the score 3-0.

Bridgewater put the game away with four runs in the fourth. Two runs scored on wild pitches, Snow drove home a run with a double and Sanderson added a run-scoring groundout.

Bridgewater scored its final run in the sixth when Snow walked, stole second and scored on a double by Mason.

Snow led the offense with a 3-for-4 effort and three runs scored while Mason drove home a pair of runs.

The Eagles are now 8-1 on the season and return to action Wednesday afternoon when they host nationally-ranked Shenandoah University.
