Another bomb threat, this time at Kate Collins Middle School: Student to be charged

Chris Graham

waynesboroMembers of the Waynesboro Police Department and the Waynesboro Fire Department responded to Kate Collins Middle School Tuesday for a report of a bomb threat that was communicated to the school.

At approximately 10 a.m., students and staff were evacuated from the building while officers and detectives with the Police Department conducted their investigation.  Three Virginia State Police bomb sniffing K-9 teams responded and did a search of the school finding no explosive devices.  Students and staff re-entered the school at 1:35 p.m.

After reviewing surveillance footage from the school’s security system, the Police Department identified a female Kate Collins Middle School student as the source of the bomb threat hoax.    She will be charged in connection with the incident.
