Amperand Arts presents BARE: A pop opera

Contributors

theater-masks2Through its pulsating rock score and emotionally charged story, BARE: A pop opera has thrilled and moved audiences around the world since its first staging in Los Angeles over a decade ago. A contemporary rock musical, BARE follows a group of teens wrestling with issues of identity, sexuality, and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. Provocative, raw, and unyielding in its exploration of how today’s generation navigates the tightrope between adolescence and adulthood, BARE examines the consequences of baring a soul-OR hiding it from those who matter most.

With BARE, AMPERSAND ARTS intends to bring the risky and unconventional world of Off-Broadway to the Shenandoah Valley for the first time. The production will defy conventional musical staging, breaking down the barrier between audience and performer, for an experience that no one will forget. AMPERSAND is thrilled to be working with John Fregosi, a director dedicated to bringing fresh and original theatre to the region.

Staunton audiences will soon discover why BARE has amassed a passionate international fan base, received over one hundred productions worldwide, and is poised to be one of this season’s most talked about musical theater events in the Shenandoah Valley!

Performances begin at 7:30pm, JUNE 23, 24, 25, 30, JULY 1, 2

Downtown 27 @ the Clocktower – (27 W. Beverley Street, Staunton, VA)

ADMISSION: $10 (in advance at BOOKWORKS, downtown Staunton) or $12 at the door

AMPERSAND ARTS states that BARE is intended for mature audiences as the performance contains adult language, themes and sexual content.
