I’m just now finding out that Mark Packer announced his retirement from ESPN back in May, after perusing the new fall lineup for ACC Network, and not seeing his name.
Not that I’m going to miss him, but I wonder what happens to his basement studio.
If they’re looking to get rid of the stuff cheap, I’ve got a basement that would make a great studio, is what I’m getting at there.
The “ACC PM” show that had broadcast from Packer’s basement the past couple of years will now emanate from Bristol, which is technically in the ACC geographic footprint, because Connecticut is south of Boston, and Boston College is technically an ACC member.
“ACC PM” will broadcast Monday-Thursday from 6-7 p.m., with an extended edition on Fridays, from 5-7 p.m., with a focus on Friday-night ACC Football and games on the schedule for football Saturdays.
Kelsey Cuff will anchor the Friday show, from Bristol, with contributions from the analysts on site at that weekend’s “ACC Huddle” location.
Seems that ACCN is making “ACC Huddle” its version of “College GameDay,” albeit without Pat McAfee, which means it will be watchable.
Actually, looking at the lineup – host Taylor Tannebaum and analysts Eric Mac Lain, a former O lineman at Clemson, former Virginia Tech receiver Eddie Royal, and Texas A&M castoff Jimbo Fisher – meh.
No McAfee, no Dave Portnoy, so, this is probably the one to watch, but mainly by default.
“ACC Huddle” airs on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Bristol studio team has two new guys – Dave Clawson, the former Wake Forest head coach and 2021 ACC Coach of the Year, and Bryce Love, the former Stanford running back and 2017 Heisman Trophy runner-up who never actually played in the ACC, but anyway.
Clawson and Love will join Mark Richt and Tom Luginbill in the Bristol studio to hold down the fort for ACCN’s college football Friday evening and Saturday studio lineup.
Something called “ACC Network Football Podcast,” hosted by Florida State alum EJ Manuel and Georgia Tech alum Roddy Jones, will air on ACCN Mondays and Wednesdays (5-6 p.m.).
The first broadcast for that one is Monday, Aug. 25.
“ACC Network Basketball Podcast” fits in on Tuesdays on ACCN (5-6 p.m.), featuring a rotating cast of ESPN and ACCN men’s and women’s basketball voices.
The basketball show premieres on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
“Inside ACCess” with Andrea Adelson and David Hale expands from 30 minutes to a full hour, airing on Thursdays (5-6 p.m.).
Telling us that this show is expanding neglects to account for most of us having never heard of it before now hearing that it is expanding.
I get it, it’s a job for those two, I shouldn’t be so harsh.
Only one more week of ACC Network being irrelevant, before we have to try to remind ourselves to tune in again.
