Augusta Free Press sponsors Oct. 10 Out of Darkness suicide prevention walk

afsp2Augusta Free Press is proud to be a sponsor of the Oct. 10 Out of Darkness Staunton Community Walk being held in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton.

AFP vice president Crystal Graham is leading a team in honor of her twin sister, Christina, who died from suicide in 1992. The Remembering Tina team has 25 participants pre-registered.

Money raised at the walk will go to new research, educational programs, public policy advocacy and support for survivors of suicide loss.

As of this writing, the local walk has received $4.680 in pledges, toward a $25,000 local fundraising goal.
