Greinke (9-2, 1.30 ERA) extended his scoreless streak to 43.2 innings with his effort on Sunday, giving up three hits in eight scoreless innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Scherzer (10-8, 2.09 ERA) gave up a run on seven hits in six innings of work, striking out eight and walking one.

The Dodgers beat up Nats reliever Blake Treinem in the ninth, scoring four runs on five hits and a walk from Treinem in a third of an inning of work.

Yasiel Puig had four strikeouts on the day, three against Scherzer, but redeemed himself somewhat with a two-run single in the ninth-inning deluge.

Andre Ethier was 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored.

Washington (49-41) has a two and a half game lead on the New York Mets in the National League East. The Nats and Mets begin a three-game series at Nationals Park on Monday.
