nationals_logoTanner Roark got lit up for eight runs in three and a third, and Philadelphia rolled past Washington, 8-5, to salvage a split in a Sunday doubleheader.

Roark (3-3) gave up 12 hits in his short stint, getting chased with one out in the fourth on a two-run single by Darin Ruf that gave the Phillies a 7-3 lead.

A Carlos Ruiz sacrifice fly RBI made it 8-3, before the Nats bullpen settled things down, putting up five and two-thirds scoreless innings.

Severino Gonzalez (3-2) got the win for Phiiladelphia, giving up four runs on six hits in five and a third innings, striking out seven and walking one.

The loss ends an eight-game winning streak for Washington (42-34), which has a two and a half game lead on the second-place New York Mets in the National League East.
