Emergency work Tuesday to repair damaged signal at Route 29 / Greenbrier Drive intersection

route 29The Virginia Department of Transportation will close the southbound left turn lane from Route 29 (Seminole Trail) onto Greenbrier Drive in Albemarle County on Tuesday morning while a crew replaces a damaged traffic signal. The pole-mounted signal was knocked down during the weekend’s winter storm.

The left turn lane will be closed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday; the work is expected to take about one hour. Motorists traveling in both directions on Route 29 should be alert to workers in the median, slow down and obey directional signs and other devices as they approach the work zone. Virginia State Police will be on scene to assist with traffic control if needed.

The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state.
