Culpeper VDOT District traffic alert: Jan. 12-16

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of overhead utility line at mile marker 104. Brief traffic stop scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, weather permitting. Motorists should expect a 15-minute travel delay in both directions.

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion July 2015.

Routes 20, 719 – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 29, 781 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) – Debris removal. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

Routes 600, 640 – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 663, 668, 810 – Tree removal. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Culpeper County

Routes 601, 617, 624, 626, 640, 657, 710, 721 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 611, 625, 633, 640, 685 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 617, 661 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 633, 658, 666 – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. One lane of roundabout is now open. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Fauquier County

Routes 211 eastbound, 245, 605, 643, 688, 698 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 2015.

Routes 673 (Fosters Fork Road/Baldwin Street) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 674, 706, 731, 737, 742, 761, 801 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 732, 1410 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion October 2015.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion May 2015.

Routes 631, 640, 660 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 659 (Stage Junction Road) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Greene County

Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 628, 630, 634, 650, 672 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

 

Louisa County

Routes 208, 522, 613, 625 – Shoulder repair. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 601 (Paynes Mill Road) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Motorists should use caution as they approach the work zone.

 

Orange County

Routes 231, 647 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 608, 647, 650 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 616 (Montford Road) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 618, 627, 630, 631, 632, 696 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 654, 705, 721 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

 

Rappahannock County

Routes 603, 615, 637, 638, 650, 681 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 621, 622, 626, 647, 707, 729 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia.
