Bridgewater College Equestrians host Horses’ Easter

AFP

bridgewaterThe Equestrian Club of Bridgewater College will host “Horses’ Easter” at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center in Weyers Cave, on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m.

The BCEC is located off of U.S. 11 on Burketown Road, between Weyers Cave and Mt. Crawford.

All elementary and pre-school students in the community and their families are invited to the presentation, “The Guardians of Children,” featuring skits about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Jack Frost, Mother Nature, the Sandman and the Tooth Fairy.

Jerry Schurink, Bridgewater College’s director of riding of the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center, will narrate the events. Children will be allowed to reward the horses with a tasty treat following the presentation.

“This event provides an excellent outreach opportunity for the Equestrian Club and a fun activity for children in the local community,” said Schurink.

In lieu of an admission charge, the Equestrian Club requests donations of canned goods for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Last year, the club received more than 600 pounds of canned food for the food bank, and the club hopes to exceed that amount this year. For further information, call Beth R. Boteler, assistant to the director of riding and equine minor/riding club adviser, at (540) 223-2437.
