Report reveals top planned WrestleMania 30 matches: Please say it ain’t so

Chris Graham

wwe networkA PWInsider report offered up what the website says are the top five planned matches at WrestleMania 30. If these are the matches, this ‘Mania will resemble your average, run-of-the-mill monthly pay-per-view, without the pizazz.

Here’s what PWInsider says its sources are reporting the matches will be:

  • Batista vs. Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Title
  • Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker
  • Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena
  • CM Punk vs. Triple H
  • Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

Meanwhile, a report from F4WOnline.com has a sixth match on the schedule, Ultimate Warrior vs. Ryback.

Let’s break this potential card down, match by match.

  • Batista-Orton: Orton is long since past his time being interesting for a main event at a WrestleMania, if he ever was there. This recent push has made no sense as far as it being “good for business.” It’s hard to imagine him carrying Batista through any kind of entertaining match.
  • Lesnar-Undertaker: If anything can be worse that the Triple H-Undertaker match from WM 28 or the Lesnar-Triple H match from WM29, it’s Lesnar-Undertaker at WM30.
  • Wyatt-Cena: Creative is going to have a lot to do to get us to believe Wyatt as a believable opponent for Cena on the stage at a ‘Mania.
  • Punk-Triple H: Why? Can’t think of anything else to say here. Why? Why waste Punk, the best worker in the company, on the plodding Triple H? What a waste.
  • Bryan-Sheamus: Again, why? Bryan is your second best worker, and he’s your hottest start right now. Sheamus? Why have we ever had to care about Sheamus? Please don’t do this.
  • Warrior-Ryback: If it’s a squash for Warrior to rid us of the pointlessness that has become Ryback, I’m all for it.

Final analysis: What we need to hope here is that the sources are once again trying to swerve the smarks by planting another ridiculous story with the websites. This would be the most underwhelming WrestleMania maybe in history.

I may need to rethink my planned subscription to the WWE Network. That’s how bad this show would be.
