The Mark Warner Senate campaign filed his candidacy petitions to run for re-election to the United States Senate on Tuesday. With the help of more than 400 volunteers, the campaign collected and delivered more than 15,500 signatures to the Virginia State Board of Elections.
“Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, our campaign met and surpassed our goal,” said Sen. Warner. “The breadth of support found throughout the Commonwealth makes it clear that folks want a Senator who will continue working across party lines to find constructive solutions that will make education affordable and strengthen our economy.”
Virginia state law requires statewide candidates to submit at least 10,000 signatures of Virginia voters and at least 400 signatures from each congressional district.
“This submission is a testament to Senator Warner’s strong record of addressing the everyday problems facing Virginians throughout the state,” said Campaign Manager Trey Nix. “We intend to compete in all parts of the Commonwealth and the enthusiastic support from every district is a good first step towards victory in November.”
On Sunday, the campaign opened its Alexandria headquarters with over 400 supporters in attendance.
