Waynesboro YMCA adds Chris Delaughter as operations director

Chris Delaughter is excited about the possibilities with her new job as operations director at the Waynesboro YMCA.

“With the plans for future expansion and program expansion here, there are a lot of opportunities here,” said Delaughter, a James Madison University alum and resident of Mount Jackson.

Delaughter most recently served as director of volunteer services at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. She sees opportunities to get volunteers more involved in the goings-on at the Y.

“I want to get to know members and get a sense of what their ideas are in terms of what they want to see us offer here at the Y,” Delaughter said.

The goal is to make the Y “feel like home,” Delaughter said.

“Whether it’s for a workout or a swim session, the Y should be a place where you get to also spend some time with friends,” Delaughter said.

The addition of Delaughter to the staff will free up Jeff Fife, the executive director at the YMCA, to focus more on long-range development.

“We’re very excited to have Chris join our team as our new operations director,” Fife said. “She’s going to be managing the day-to-day operations, which gives me the opportunity to start focusing on the future of the YMCA and what’s going to be happening here tomorrow and into the future.

“Chris is a welcome addition to this team. She brings a lot of energy, a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of skills that we’re excited to have impacting children, family and seniors here at the Waynesboro YMCA,” Fife said.
