wlogo2Kyle Allen limited Strasburg to a run on five hits in five and a third innings, and Quinn Griffith was 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI single and a game-saving double play, leading the Waynesboro Generals to a 5-1 win over the Strasburg Express Monday night in Game 2 of the Valley League Championship Series.

The deciding Game 3 is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strasburg.

Allen (sophomore, Butler) picked up his second win in the 2013 VBL playoffs with his effort. The righthander struck out four and walked two and left with a 2-1 lead. Waynesboro extended the lead after Strasburg finally broke through in the sixth on a two-out single to right-center by Griffith (junior, Salisbury) that scored Patrick Mazeika (freshman, Stetson) from third.

Ben Boykin (junior, College of Charleston) scored from third on a wild pitch in the seventh to make it 4-1 Waynesboro. A sacrifice fly by Anthony Iacomini (junior, Cortland State) scored Tyler Bocock (sophomore, Stetson) in the eighth to add extra insurance at 5-1.

Latten Gailbraith (junior, Louisiana Tech), David Spinosa (sophomore, Columbia), Michael Scimanico (sophomore, Shenandoah) and Sean Bucholz (junior, Southern Miss) combined on three and two-thirds innings of three-hit relief.
