The United Way of Greater Augusta will relocate its office to 24 Idlewood Blvd., Suites 106-112, in Fishersville the first week in November. Offices will temporarily have limited services Tuesday, Oct. 30 to Tuesday, Nov. 6.
In 2011, the United Way Board of Directors and the staff determined through research that location and accessibility was the most significant weakness of the organization. A committee made recommendations on new office space based on budget, needs, and location.
The move is part of a strategic plan to better serve the community and meet the needs of the United Way partners. The new location is 3,200 square feet and is ADA-compliant. It offers larger office space, meeting rooms available to the community, a board room and ample parking.
There are no longer any physical challenges at the United Way. The previous office space was not conducive to all the members of the community who were interested in visiting the United Way due to the building not being handicap accessible.
Although United Way has only three employees, it also uses volunteer labor throughout the year. The new building gives United Way much more space, including a large multi-purpose room where the volunteers can work, training can take place, large groups can gather. United Way’s board of directors can also meet in the multi-purpose room, rather than having to go to an off-site location, as they must do now.
“We are really excited about the move as it will allow the United Way to continue its mission to improve the lives of people in our community. We think the location is key to providing greater access for the community,” said Kevin Hall, president of the Board of Directors for United Way of Greater Augusta.
The United Way of Greater Augusta will hold a Holiday Open House on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 4-6 p.m. to introduce the new space to the community.
