Two people were injured in Virginia, including a state trooper, in a pursuit that also extended into Washington and Maryland.

The suspect, identified as Titus Z. Mayo, 22, of Winterville, N.C., allegedly fled a traffic stop initiated by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department on Wednesday evening. According to a report from the Virginia State Police, the suspect also struck an officer who was on foot at the time.

At 3:36 a.m., an officer with Prince George’s County in Maryland located and attempted to stop the suspect’s white Range Rover. Mayo refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated that crossed the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into Virginia.

Virginia State Police troopers joined the pursuit early Thursday morning that continued on Interstate 495 southbound.

During the pursuit, the suspect struck an uninvolved vehicle that had moved to the left shoulder to allow police and the suspect to pass. Mayo then crossed the travel lanes, and his Range Rover collided with a Virginia State Police vehicle in Alexandria.

The trooper suffered minor injuries but did not require treatment at the hospital. The uninvolved driver that was struck on the shoulder was transported to an area hospital.

Mayo was also transported to a local hospital.

He faces charges in Virginia for eluding, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and other traffic-related offenses. Additional charges are pending from the other jurisdictions in Washington and Maryland.
