Police asking for help identifying suspect in I-64 shooting near Busch Gardens

A 54-year-old Gloucester resident is dead after a shooting Sept. 24 on Interstate 64 near Busch Gardens, according to Virginia State Police.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Agents are asking for help in finding the perpetrator, releasing a photo today of the victim’s Honda CR-V. Police are asking the public for information if they witnessed anything unusual before the fatal gunfire involving the sports utility vehicle.

According to VSP, the shooting took place on I-64 between the 242 and 243 mile marker in York County just before 6 p.m. last Wednesday. The incident was in the vicinity of Humelsine Parkway-Marquis Center Parkway, either in the east or westbound lanes or off the interstate.

The investigation is ongoing. However, investigators believe this was an insolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to other drivers of the community.
