A Staunton man was among the two Virginia National Guard members injured in a Humvee crash on Route 460 in Dinwiddie County on Saturday.
Robert Moran, 27, of Staunton, was flown to VCU Medical Center by MedFlight for treatment of his injuries in the 3:10 p.m. crash.
The driver of the Humvee, Emmanuel Andre Roberts, 24, of Woodbridge, was transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center.
According to Virginia State Police, the Humvee was part of a military convoy transporting Virginia National Guard soldiers assigned to Warrenton-based Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment. The soldiers were en route to Fort Barfoot for three weeks of annual training when the crash occurred.
Preliminary investigation reveals the Humvee was towing a single-axle trailer when it began to lose control due to issues with the trailer. The driver attempted to regain control, but the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and overturned several times.
Both the driver and the front-seat passenger were wearing seat belts but were ejected from the vehicle.
