With the loss, Virginia dropped to 12-4 overall and 0-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. North Carolina handed UVa its first home loss of the season and improved to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Franklin was 9-of-25 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line. She connected on two 3-pointers and also added five steals.

The Tar Heels out-scored the Cavaliers 9-4 in the second overtime, including three free throws in the final 17 seconds.

Moorer forced overtime by making an acrobatic layup with 18.8 seconds, tying the score at 57-57. North Carolina was unable to get off a shot on its final possession.

Moorer missed a close range runner as time expired in the first overtime.

North Carolina shot 47 percent (27-of-57) from the field and held a 48-37 advantage in rebounding.

UVa continues ACC play on the road on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Clemson at 2 p.m.
