Virginia was represented by three of its players on the 2010 Collegiate Baseball All-America team, announced today by the publication.
Danny Hultzen (So., Bethesda, Md.) was named to the first team, while Kevin Arico (Jr., Flemington, N.J.) and Phil Gosselin (Jr., West Chester, Pa.) each earned third-team honors.
Hultzen is 9-1 with an ACC-low 2.43 earned run average this season. In 92.2 innings, he has allowed 62 hits and 20 walks while striking out 111 batters. Opponents are batting just .184 against him this year.
Hultzen became Virginia’s first ACC Pitcher of the Year and was a first-team All-ACC selection this year. He has been consistently strong all season and pitched at least six innings in 12 of his 14 starts. He ranks eighth nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (6.02) and 18th in strikeouts.
Arico is currently tied for the national lead this season with 16 saves, which is a single-season school record at Virginia. A First-Team All-ACC honoree in 2010, Arico is 1-1 with a 2.93 earned run average. In 27.2 innings pitched, he has recorded 38 strikeouts and seven walks.
Arico currently ranks second in Virginia history with 27 saves. That total also ranks eighth in ACC history.
Gosselin is ranked fourth in the ACC with a .379 batting average this season. A first-team All-ACC honoree for the second year in a row, he is tied for third in the league with 88 hits, which is just six hits shy of the single-season school hits record.
Gosselin ranks fourth in the ACC in doubles with 21 and is seventh in triples with four.

James Madison junior closer Kevin Munson (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) earned third-team honors on Thursday from Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Munson earned the first All-America honors of his career after also being named the Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year and earning his second straight first-team All-CAA honor in 2010. He was one of just eight relief pitchers nationwide to earn a spot on one of the three All-America squads by Collegiate Baseball.
For his junior campaign, Munson went 8-1 with 10 saves, a 1.64 earned run average and a .174 opponent batting average. In 55 innings pitched, he allowed just 10 earned runs on 33 hits with 70 strikeouts compared to 24 walks. He led the CAA in both wins and saves along with ERA and opponent average. He was ninth in strikeouts and fourth in appearances with 28. Nationally, Munson ranks sixth in ERA, first in fewest hits allowed, third in hits allowed per nine innings (5.40), fourth in opponent average, fifth in fewest earned runs allowed, 11th in strikeouts per nine innings (11.45), 25th in saves, and first in fewest doubles allowed (4).
Munson holds JMU records for career saves (23) and season saves (10), a category in which he also ranks second with nine in 2009. The career mark also sits fourth in CAA history. He is third all-time with a 2.35 career ERA and 10th with his 2010 season ERA of 1.64. His 28 season appearances were one shy of the JMU single-season record. Munson is the 13th different player in JMU history to earn All-America accolades, just the second as a pitcher. Collegiate Baseball also named him a Freshman All-American in 2008.
