Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s visit to Harrisonburg on Thursday will be met with a peaceful protest from local members of the Virginia Organizing Project.

VOP members will gather outside the Spotswood Country Club at 11:30 a.m. in advance of Cuccinelli’s talk with the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce at noon.

“I will be speaking out Thursday because I am embarrassed by the recent actions of the attorney general to block health-care reform, sue the EPA and to repeal non-discrimination policies at colleges and universities. He seems bent on taking the state backwards, not forwards,” said Diana Woodall, a VOP member and the event’s organizer.

“As a small-business owner and former member of the Chamber of Commerce, I am deeply concerned that the attorney general is wasting his time on frivolous lawsuits, instead of protecting consumers and supporting small business owners like myself,” Woodall said.
