It is only the start of 2020, and already the world has seen one of the worst viral outbreaks in years. As the coronavirus sweeps across the globe, concerns around healthcare are increasing. Having caused hundreds of deaths in China, and infected people from all corners of the world, this virus is posing a real threat. It is for this reason that the World Health Organization chose to issue a global health warning and declare a state of emergency. What this shows is that a global health emergency can occur at any time, which is why it’s so crucial that healthcare should be consistently taken seriously.

Research has shown that a high number of people fail to make their health and wellbeing a priority. However, in 2020 it is vital that health is taken more seriously, with a higher number of people from across the globe striving to lead more health-conscious lives. With that in mind, experts have revealed that, when it comes to taking care of health and wellbeing, there are a number of things that you can do.

Eat a balanced diet

Research shows that people who eat a healthy, balanced diet, which includes five pieces of fruit or vegetables a day, tend to have stronger immune systems and become unwell less frequently than people who don’t eat a balanced and varied diet. There are various ways that fruits and vegetables can be added to diets, including juice, smoothies, and soups, among other methods. Many parents find that creating dishes that incorporate hidden fruits and vegetables is an easy way to encourage their children to eat more of these food groups.

When consuming fruits and vegetables, ensure that you include multi-colored ones so that you get a good amount of vitamins and minerals in your diet. These are important for giving your body more nutrition and also protecting you from illnesses.

Invest in health insurance

While some medical care is available for free or at low costs, the fact is that all of the best medical care is expensive. For a lot of people, this means that high-quality medical care can sometimes be out of reach, which, when you are unwell, can make life extremely difficult.

Over the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people choosing to take out private health insurance, from companies like AHiX Marketplace, for instance. Health insurance providers such as AHiX offer cover for a number of illnesses and accidents, and provide an annual coverage amount that can be used should an accident or illness occur.

Take advantage of preventive medicine

Preventative medicine, such as vaccinations, has changed the course of the medical landscape, with a high number of previously fatal diseases, being wiped out due to ‘herd protection’ created by vaccinations. However, with the anti-vaccination movement growing, the level of protection offered from ‘herd protection’ is depleting. This is why it is more important than ever that preventative medicine is taken seriously and carefully considered as a route to protect yourself and your family from potentially fatal illnesses.
