Malpass Brothers join lineup for Happy Birthday America

Chris Graham

Malpass BrothersThe Malpass Brothers will be the special musical guest this year joining Wilson Fairchild onstage July 4th at Staunton’s Gypsy Hill Park for the Happy Birthday America celebration.

The North Carolina brothers, Chris and Taylor Malpass, have been described as a “throwback to country crooners” of the 1950s and 60s. Entertaining and performing traditional country music is what they do best. The talented duo toured with country music legend, Merle Haggard, for several years, eventually developing a signature look of high, brushed back hair that is often a subject of conversation – and a hit with fans. Their music tells a story – speaking to them and to the souls of their listeners. They don’t just sound retro, they are retro!

The free Happy Birthday America concert features hometown headliners, Wilson Fairchild, (Langdon and Wil Reid). When Wilson Fairchild and the Malpass Brothers share a stage, the audience is always in for a real treat…you never know what just might happen between these guys!

“We recently performed a country music all-star cruise with the Maplass’, and our love for traditional music and unabashed senses of humor really clicked with these guys. They’re a lot of fun!” reported Langdon Reid.

The addition of the Malpass Brothers to the concert line-up was a natural thing to do after the two duos played just one show together.

And Wil added, “We’ve been fans of their sound for a good while but after we got to know them and how great we all hit it off, we can’t wait to introduce them to our hometown and have Staunton get to know them, too. Great guys playing great music!”

“The best thing about our cruise to the Caribbean this year was getting to know Wilson Fairchild.  It felt like we had a couple more brothers.  Maybe it was the name calling and the tattling, or maybe it was just the laughs and the love of great music.  Either way, we can’t wait to spend our families’ holiday together in Staunton” quipped Taylor Malpass.

Happy Birthday America is a non-profit organization hosting the annual 4th of July festivities in Staunton’s Gypsy Hill Park. The event was created by The Statler Brothers in 1970 as a hometown celebration of Independence Day.
