Waynesboro Public Library hosts Irish music concert

waynesboro libraryThe Waynesboro Public Library will host a celebration of traditional Irish music with Alex Caton and Pat Egan at 12 p.m., Friday, March 16. The free hour-long performance includes a light lunch.

Caton and Egan are solo recording artists who came together in 2011 to create the album Fiddle Tunes and Ballads. Caton sings and plays fiddle and claw hammer banjo, while Egan plays guitar and sings.

Now residing in Gordonsville, Caton is a native of England and Scotland. With a commitment to continuing traditional Appalachian and Irish music, she teaches and performs. In 2005, she founded the Mountain Road Fiddle Camp which takes place annually in West Virginia.

Egan is from County Tipperary, Ireland, but now resides in Virginia. He has made extensive tours of the United States solo and with other musicians and groups, and has also performed in Sweden, Norway, Holland, Germany, Scotland, Spain and France. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs in Ireland and abroad.

Caton and Egan’s performance is part of the Midday Music series which brings live music to the library once a month.
