In a formal ceremony held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott this evening, the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services announced the recipients of the 2016 Governor’s EMS Awards. The Governor’s EMS Awards ceremony is the culmination of the 37th Annual Virginia EMS Symposium. Governor Terry McAuliffe recognized a number of outstanding EMS providers and organizations from across the Commonwealth for their exceptional achievements and dedication to Virginia’s EMS system.

The Governor’s Award for Contribution to EMS for Children is presented annually to an individual, organization or program that exemplifies outstanding dedication and service to the contribution, development and/or enhancement of EMS for children in Virginia.

“I’m gratified that the Governor’s Award Selection Committee at the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) together with Gov. McAuliffe choose to recognize Wanda Willis for this honor.” said CSEMSC President, Gary Critzer.

“Wanda has dedicated her career at Harrisonburg Fire Department and as the coordinator for the Safe Kids Central Shenandoah Valley Coalition to protecting children by developing and supporting a strong network of injury prevention advocates in the Shenandoah Valley,” he added. “We salute Wanda for her tireless work and unending advocacy for children here in the Valley.”
