Interstate 81 lane closures Oct. 10-14 in Frederick County, Rockbridge County

interstate 81Paving operations and bridge inspections on Interstate 81 will require single lane closures in Frederick and Rockbridge counties during the week of October 10-14.

In addition, an I-81 northbound off-ramp in Rockbridge County is scheduled for a one-night closure for paving. All work is weather permitting.

In Frederick County:

  • On I-81 from mile marker 309 to 311, the northbound left lane is scheduled to close on Monday through Thursdaynights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following mornings. The southbound right lane is scheduled to close on Wednesdayand Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following mornings.
  • On I-81 northbound and southbound near mile marker 302 and 312, daytime bridge inspections are scheduled for Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In both locations, the work will require a right lane closure.

In Rockbridge County:

  • The I-81 northbound right lane is scheduled to close from mile marker 186 to 187 on Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning.
  • The northbound off-ramp at exit 195 is scheduled to close Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. I-81 northbound drivers can use exit 191 as a detour.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.

For other assistance call the VDOT Customer Service Center, available 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week. Citizens can dial 1-800-FOR- ROAD (1-800-367-7623) from anywhere in the state to report road hazards, ask transportation questions, or get information related to Virginia’s roads.
