Baltimore makes it two straight over Nationals

Chris Graham

baltimore oriolesRemember when the Washington Nationals couldn’t lose? And when the Baltimore Orioles couldn’t win? That was so last week.

The O’s made it two straight over their Beltway rivals in an 8-1 thrashing Tuesday night at Camden Yards.

Kevin Gausman (5-10, 3.92 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) scattered six hits in six scoreless innings, striking out two and walking two.

Vance Worley (1 save, 3.19 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) recorded the rare three-inning save, giving up a run on four hits, striking out three and walking two.

Adam Jones (.277/.318/.459, 24 HR, 74 RBI) was 4-for-5 in the leadoff spot for Baltimore (69-56), which is still two games back of Toronto (71-54) in the AL East.

Chris Davis (.224/.338/.471, 30 HR, 69 RBI) homered on a 2-for-5 night.

Washington rookie Trea Turner (.320/.346/.536, 4 HR, 20 RBI) was 4-for-4 at the top of the order for the Nats, his first MLB career four-hit game.

Bryce Harper (.247/.386/.455, 22 HR, 68 RBI) was 2-for-4 for the Nationals (73-52), who still hold an eight-game lead on Miami (65-60) in the NL East despite losing three straight.

Rookie Reynaldo Lopez (2-2, 5.33 ERA, 1.70 WHIP) took the loss, getting plastered for six runs, four earned, on seven hits in two and two-thirds innings.
