uva-basketballTenth-ranked Virginia led by as many as 14 in the first half, but William & Mary hung around until late before the ‘Hoos closed out the 67-52 win on Saturday in Charlottesville.

UVA (7-1) led 22-8 with 8:34 left in the first half, but an 8-0 Tribe run narrowed the lead to six, and the lead for the Cavs was 10 at the half, 32-22.

The margin was as close as seven with 7:10 left after a driving layup by Daniel Dixon before Virginia finally got some separation with an 8-0 run punctuated by a Darius Thompson slam that pushed the lead to 15 with 3:45 left.

Anthony Gill and Malcolm Brogdon led UVA with 16 points.

Dixon led William & Mary (5-3) with 15 points.
