Poll: What do Virginia voters think of Obama, McAuliffe, Warner, Kaine?

A new Christopher Newport University poll shows that Virginia voters have generally positive views of Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine.

Barack Obama, not so much.

Obama is viewed favorably by 43 percent of Virginia voters, according to the new poll from the Wason Center for Public Policy at CNU, with 50 percent disapproving, and 7 percent not sure.

This does actually reflect a slight improvement in approval since a January Wason Center poll, which had Obama’s favorability in Virginia at 41 percent.

The approval for McAuliffe is at its highest point since he took office in January 2014, at 53 percent, with 23 percent disapproving, and 24 percent not sure.

Warner gets a favorable review from 53 percent, with 26 disapproving and 21 percent not sure. His high-water mark came in October 2011, when his approval was at 66 percent.

Kaine, Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam and Attorney General Mark Herring all have positive job approval, but below 50 percent. Kaine’s split is 44 percent/31 percent, with Northam’s split at 26 percent/12 percent, and 62 percent not sure, and Herring is at 39 percent/19 percent with 42 percent not sure.
