Rashad Greene took a short slant pass 39 yards for a last-minute touchdown to lift #8 Florida State to a 28-22 win over Virginia Tech Thursday night.

Tech (4-6, 2-4 ACC) had taken a 22-20 lead after the Hokies defense forced a fourth-quarter safety and then Logan Thomas led the offense on a drive following the free kick that resulted in a 21-yard Cody Journell field goal with 2:19 left.

FSU quarterback E.J. Manuel answered, coolly, calmly, leading Florida State on an eight-play, 73-yard drive that featured one fourth-down conversion and then the slant pass to Greene, who took Manuel’s pass in stride in the left flat and streaked across the field through the Tech defense to score in the right corner of the end zone.

Virginia Tech drove to the FSU 40 in the game’s final seconds before a pass from Thomas was intercepted inside the Seminole 30 to end the game.

The Tech defense was dominant most of the night against a Florida State offense that had come in averaging 45 points per game, holding the ‘Noles to -12 yards rushing.
