richmond international film festivalThe Richmond International Film Festival brings a seven-day cavalcade of more than 150 cutting edge award-winning films from 35 countries – from France to Brazil, Australia to Cuba – plus up to 50 bands, panels, and daily events at various venues across Richmond.

The festival kicks off Monday, April 23rd and concludes Sunday, April 29th.

New Richmond International Film Festival Box Office

The RIFF Box Office has recently moved its headquarters to the heart of Carytown, and is located at MADE, a block away from the historic Byrd Theatre. MADE was established in 2017 as a Carytown pop-up where its founders celebrate Richmond emerging artists and offer authentic goods for those who appreciate well-crafted, locally handmade products.

The RIFF Box Office also features a Global Lounge where guests are invited to interact and discuss creative ideas for the city. The Box Office is currently open Friday through Saturday with extended hours leading up to the festival. The Box Office is located at 3007 West Cary Street.

Special guest: Danny Glover

The 2018 festival features several renowned special guests, including actor, producer and humanitarian, Danny Glover. Glover has been a commanding presence on screen, stage and television for more than 30 years. As an actor, his film credits range from the blockbuster Lethal Weapon franchise to smaller independent features, some of which Glover also produced. In recent years he has starred in an array of motion pictures including the critically-acclaimed Dreamgirls directed by Bill Condon and in the futuristic 2012 for director Roland Emmerich. In addition to his film work, Glover is highly sought after as a public speaker, delivering inspirational addresses and moving performances in such diverse venues as college campuses, union rallies and business conventions.

Glover stars in the festival’s 2018 Closing Night film, Buckout Road, a horror thriller directed by Matthew Currie Holmes. The film also stars Henry Czerny, Evan Ross, and Dominque Provost-Chalkey. A special discussion will take place with Glover directly following the film’s screening which will be Sunday, April 29th at 5:15pm at the Byrd Theatre. Glover will also be presented with RIFF’s 2018 Legacy Award.
