The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a wide area stretching from Augusta County into Central Virginia and north to the upper reaches of the Shenandoah Valley.
The advisory is in effect for a brief period – 4-7 a.m. Sunday. The forecast calls for a chance of snow, sleet and freezing rain during the advisory period with up to an inch of snow and sleet accumulation possible.
Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing later Sunday, with highs in the upper 30s.
