Winter Storm Warning now in effect: 3-6 inches of snow expected

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Augusta County, Staunton, Waynesboro and a wide swath stretching from the Shenandoah Valley into Northern Virginia for early Tuesday.

snow-plow-headerSnow and sleet will start between 3-5 a.m. Tuesday, changing to all snow around daybreak. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible between 7-11 a.m.

Total accumulations of 3-6 inches are expected in the warning area before the quick-moving storm leaves the region early Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s for the duration of the weather event.
