COULDN’T FIND ANYTHING A LITTLE MORE RECENT: Gilmore picks on Warner Version 1994.0

Um, hello, 1994 was 14 years ago! I was just graduating from college. People are expected to grow over time, and Mark Warner certainly has. Otherwise, the Gilmore folks wouldn’t have to dig so far back to find something so quasi-damaging.

PILING ON: The McCain misread on Obama and the troops

I’m just adding to the chorus of voices who have pointed out in great detail how the John McCain campaign set itself back with its TV ad attacking Barack Obama for canceling a visit to U.S. troops on his recent overseas trip even though he found time to go to the gym.

If it hadn’t been that the TV spot had used footage from Obama in a gym full of U.S. soldiers to help illustrate this, well, you know, maybe the smear would have worked.

Whoever pulled the trigger on the ad as presented should be fired on the principle of it.

TODAY’S HOT OR NOT: USC by 20? That’s all?

That’s what we’re hearing at this early stage of the walkup to the ’08 season opener for UVa.

I dunno. I mean, I’m the guy here ranting and raving about how the Cavs are not going to finish fifth in the ACC Coastal. But they’re not going to be anywhere near SC on Aug. 30.

(Well, they will be on the same field, if not in the same stratosphere.)

I’m not a betting man, but if I were, it’d be on Southern Cal to cover.
