LOSER: Starbucks closing 600 stores, but we don’t know which ones

I have an e-mail out to the Starbucks press office to find out about the Staunton and Waynesboro locations. Nothing back from them yet, and the only thing I can find on the company website is a note from the CEO saying that announcements will be made by mid-July at the latest.

My wife will go ballistic if she can’t get her White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha.

WINNER: The Augusta Free Press turns 6!

Yep. It’s our birthday.

Some of yous thought we wouldn’t make it six weeks. I remember trading barbs with a now-former local newspaper editor to the effect that I’d be here after he was gone. I’m not sure I believed it when I wrote it.

(Point of fact: I’m here, he’s gone. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, I guess.)

TODAY’S HOT OR NOT: Skunks. After my near run-in last night with two skunks downtown, the home office now smells like, you guessed it, skunk.

You don’t figure that they didn’t like what I had to write about them, do you?
