Microsoft regularly releases program updates for different versions of the highly popular Windows operating system in order to fix issues and bugs related to reliability, security, stability and performance.

Some updates can change the entire way in which the Windows operating system looks, but typically it is small changes that you may or may not even notice at all. Whatever the update is, it is installed and built in to the Windows Update program. The program automatically or manually checks for new updates and downloads and installs them to make sure that your Windows OS is up to date.

If your computer is running Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10, this is a great article to read when considering the value of Windows updates. One of the things to definitely keep I mind is that occasionally, Windows Update won’t be able to fix the bug or other issue automatically. Sometimes it is able to locate an issue but is unable to remedy he matter.

Here are some general tips to making sure that you get the updates you need:

If you face an issue while using Windows Update in the Windows OS, consider using an official tool

Microsoft provides official repairs if Windows Update isn’t able to get the job done on its own. If you think you need that, simply enter “Windows Update Troubleshooter” into the help search bar. As long as your are using Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10, this option will be available to you.

Once you do that, you will be directed to download a file named either WindowsUpdate.diagcab or wu10.diagcab. Regardless of what you get, simply click on the “Advanced” link at the bottom of the pop-up window and click the Run as administrator option. This action will reload the troubleshooter with admin rights.

After that, you are going to want to click the Next button and the tool will automatically begin to troubleshoot all issues related to Windows Update in your present system.

Once it finally finds the issue, the troubleshooter will offer you two buttons: Apply this fix and Skip this fix. You can click on the Apply this fix button to fix the issue immediately. If, on the other hand, you do not think that the issue found by this tool is the root cause of the issue and do not want to fix that issue you can click on the Skip this fix button and the system will continue running through the troubleshooting process. Once it detects and fixes all of the issues it finds presently in your system, you will received a brief summary going over what was found.

That’s the process! Hopefully, now you can better deal with any issues you are currently dealing with when it comes to Microsoft Windows or feel more capable the next time an unknown issue arises. It’s important to know how to keep your computer running at its best. With this quick fix, you’ll be sure to be able to do that.

Good luck!
