No one wants to think of a scenario where a loved one can go missing. If you or someone you know have is going through this, here are a few things that they can do to get their loved one back.

Find Out if That Person Is Really Missing

First of all, you need to confirm if the person is missing or not. If you have lost contact with the person before as well, there could be a significant chance there is nothing wrong. Go to their place and see it personally. If no one is there, you can always ask the neighbors around. If you do not live near that person, you can ask their neighbor to check on them. In case none of this works out, you can travel to their town and can check in person. Remember, if you see any signs that indicate there was a break-in or forced entry, you should immediately call the police. Also, if the house seems locked, you can check on nearby hospitals as well, to make sure that the person was not in some accident.

Report It to the Police

If you have seen all around and are sure that the person has gone missing, you should call the police right away. File, a missing persons, report with them and they will begin the search. In some states, the police do not take any action until 24/48  hours have passed. However, they will take your report immediately. If the person was sick or any medication inform the police because they will get on searching right away in such a scenario. Do not forget to get the number of the report and the name of the person who is in charge of the case.

Hire a Private Investigator

If the police are taking too much time and you are not satisfied with their performance, you can consider hiring a private investigator as well. They may charge you for the services, but they will be strictly focused on your case and will pursue every lead closely. There are a lot of private firms like investigation hotline out there that offer experience investigators for missing person’s cases. It will also give you peace of mind knowing that someone is always looking for your loved one.

Inform the Media

Alerting the local media is also very important in this scenario. Let the local newspaper, TV channel, radio and even websites know about the situation. This will help you to get the word out, and the more people will be able to know about the missing person. You can also ask people to help you in the search through the media. This will make it easier, and you will have more chances of finding the person when you will have several people looking for him or her voluntarily.
