Weird and whacky franchises

Anyone with an idea and the motivation can set up a business, but to turn it into a franchise takes a special kind of business person. Then there are the franchises that defy belief, like the following list of unique and bizarre businesses that have cropped up over the years. For those who don’t want to opt for the run-of-the-mill franchise and want something with more of a challenge, these franchises are perfect.

If you’re new to the concept of a franchise, it’s the right granted to a group or an individual to market the services or products of a company within a specific location. It’s the perfect transition from working for a business to working for yourself, while often being seen as the safer option to setting up a business for yourself.

Many will assume that fast food chains and fitness centres are the way to go here, as they’re the typical option for businesses looking to expand into the franchise market, but others prefer to think more outside the box when it comes to their franchising opportunities. After all, if you’re going to take the leap from the standard 9-5, why not dive into a weird and peculiar industry to make it more interesting?

Most businesses are standard and normal, to the point of blandness a lot of the time. After all, it’s the common products and services that we need most of all on a day to day basis. But we’re also unusual creatures with weird habits too, which has enabled some strange business concepts to carve out a niche for themselves.

With thousands of franchised companies across the globe, there’s almost certainly one suited to every interest, skill or niche you could possible think of. Opportunities, as this list proves, come in all different shapes and sizes, and this mixture of franchises is some of the most unique and unusual you’ll have never expected to hear about, let alone expected to be successful. From cereals and bugs to a place to let out your emotions, here are some of the weirdest franchises in business today.
