The Blues Lady and a Martian Christmas story will debut at the September installment of “The River City Radio Hour” in Waynesboro next week.

The Sept. 19 edition of the “Radio Hour” will take place at the Blue Ridge Christian Fellowship hall at 329 W. Main St. in Downtown Waynesboro.

Strother will be joined onstage by Dr. Stephen Levin, a historian who studies and teaches classes that focus on the evolution and cultural significance of blues music in the United States who is particularly interested in slide and fingerpicking styles that emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, including Piedmont and Mississippi Delta Blues.

Also onstage Friday night will be the first in Staunton author Matthew Warner’s new radio serial How the Martians Stole Christmas. The four-part serial will wrap up in December in time for us Earthlings to steal Christmas back.

Also on the schedule is a visit from standup performer Olivia Rae Frock, who made her debut in last month’s serial, Night Hawk and the Murder at the Lake by Bob Crawford, and cast members of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which will be performed at the Blue Ridge Community College Sept.25-28.
