Waynesboro Public Library to play Hollywood Squares with local celebs

library-main2When was the current Waynesboro Public Library building built? What was the original title of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury? It’s questions like these that will challenge the Library Squares game show contestants at Waynesboro Public Library on Tuesday, June 3 at 7:00 pm.

If you remember the game show Hollywood Squares, you know what the show is about. If not, the premise is simple: Local celebrities are the live Xs and Os in a tic-tac-toe board. They’re asked a trivia question and contestants decide if the answer given by the celebrity is correct or not in order to win the square.  To give it local flair, the questions will be comprised of literary, film, library and Waynesboro questions as well as random ones.

The show has quite the celebrity line up, starting with host, Jeff Fife, Waynesboro YMCA Director. Making up the tic-tac-toe board are Brian Carlton, The News Virginian Managing Editor; author Mollie Cox Bryan; Chris and Crystal Graham of Augusta Free Press; Mary Katharine Froehlich, owner of Stone Soup Books & Café; Mike Hamp, Waynesboro City Manager; author Elizabeth Massie; Clair Myers, Wayne Theater Alliance Director; and Timothy Williams, Waynesboro City Vice-Mayor.

There will be three matches composed of three games of tic-tac-toe. The contestant winning the most games from each of the first two matches will advance to the championship third match. They’ll be competing for a $100 gift card.

Pitted against each other are Waynesboro residents Elliott Kuelz, a banker, and his wife, Amber, an elementary school teacher. Also playing is a business manager, Rusty Simmons of Waynesboro, and Michelle Mead-Armor, also of Waynesboro, who is a writer and translator.

Who will win? Come cheer on your favorite contestants or celebrities and test your trivia knowledge at the same time. Audience members can even try their hand at it in some rounds just for fun after the main competition is over.  You already might be well on your way to being a trivia champ if you know that the answers to the introductory trivia questions respectively are 1969 and The Fireman.
