The Waynesboro Public Library will host a Reggae: The Sound of Jamaica featuring Chris “Peanut” Whitley and friends at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 11. The free hour-long concert includes a light lunch.
Keyboardist and producer Whitley has toured and recorded with numerous bands, including the Jamaican reggae group Culture and blues and reggae musician Corey Harris.
Whitley grew up in Harrisonburg and graduated from the Conservatory at Shenandoah University. After joining a local reggae band, he was recruited to play with the influential band Culture which was based on out Kingston, Jamaica.
Currently between tours, Whitley lives in Waynesboro. This will be his first performance at the library.
Reggae: The Sound of Jamaica is part of the library’s Midday Music series which brings live music to the library once a month.
