waynesboro policeMembers of the Waynesboro Police Department’s Special Operations Division and the department’s SWAT Unit executed a narcotics search warrant Monday night at 2229 Cortland Street.

Upon entering the single family residence at approximately 9:30 p.m. officers detained two males and two females and discovered suspected components as well as implements used to manufacture methamphetamine. Some of the drug components had been mixed and were actually in the process of manufacture so officers removed the occupants and exited the hazardous environment.

The home was secured and the 2200 block of Cortland Street was closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic pending arrival of the Virginia State Police Meth lab team.

Upon arrival, this specialized team utilizing protective clothing and breathing apparatus collected the various chemicals, containers and suspected methamphetamine in various states of manufacture, removing it from the scene in a safe manner.

Once reasonably safe, the residence was searched and several items of evidence were seized.

Charges are pending lab analysis.
