Waynesboro Police Department awards, promotion

Corporal LemonsThe Waynesboro Police Department held its quarterly awards ceremony on September 10.  Chief Mike Wilhelm presided over the ceremony, at which one award and one promotion were acknowledged.

  • Officer Paul Johnson, outstanding performance for investigation that led an arrest in a multi-state larceny case that yield several charges and recovery of thousands of dollars of stolen property.



  • Detective Ben Lemons was promoted to the rank of corporal.  The promotion comes at the end of a two week process that involved a written test and oral interview. Corporal Lemons joined the police department in 2006 and is a graduate of Waynesboro High School.  He will be assigned to the Patrol Division as an assistant Shift Supervisor.  He is a general instructor and firearms instructor.  Corporal Lemons’ wife, Stephanie, works for Waynesboro Public Schools.  He is the son of Lowell & Linda Lemons.
