Harris, Leon EdwardThe Waynesboro Police Department located a fugitive Monday night after he made several profane, drunken outbursts while riding in a vehicle in Downtown Waynesboro.

Leon Edward Harris, 39 years old, of Waynesboro, had been wanted by Staunton authorities since January 2013 on two bench warrants from Staunton General District Court.  At 6:30 p.m. on September 7, An officer on routine patrol in the downtown area observed a Jeep Grand Cherokee with several occupants.  Harris was the front seat passenger and made several loud statements using the “F-bomb.”

The officer heard the obscenities from nearly a city block away.  The officer stopped the vehicle near Arch Avenue and West Main Street.  A check of Harris’ information determined he was wanted on the Staunton charges.  The officer arrested the vulgarly verbose Harris on the outstanding charges.

Harris was released on bond.
