The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man, Thomas Neal Tait, 52, on 20 counts of possession of child pornography pursuent to a year-long investigation.
Investigators siezed a computer belonging toTait that contained in excess of 80,000 images of children being sexually abused. Many of the images depict children younger than 2 years old being sexually assaulted by adults.
The Waynesboro Police Department has received assistence in this investigation by both the Virginia State Police and various federal law enforcement agencies.
Tait was taken into custody yesterday without incident and is being held without bond in the Middle River Regional Jail pending advisement.
