Mullen, James ScottThe Waynesboro Police Department charged an Augusta County man with a felony after he repeatedly kicked a Waynesboro man because of a disagreement over money.  James Scott Mullen, 41 years old, is facing one count of Malicious Wounding stemming from the mid April  attack that occurred in a residence in the 1600 block of Ohio Street.

On April 13 at approximately 3:00 PM, an officer responded to the residence to speak with the citizen about being assaulted by an acquaintance who had just left.  When he arrived, the officer found the 43 year old victim with serious injuries to his face and upper body including contusions around his left eye and forehead and a laceration to his left ear.  The victim, who was already in a back brace and walked with a cane due to other unrelated medical issues, told the officer that Mullen came to his home on an errand.  An argument ensued over the victim supposedly owing Mullen money, around $100.00.  Mullen then knocked the victim to the floor and kicked him several times in the face, head and upper body.

The Waynesboro First Aid Crew transported the victim to Augusta Health Emergency Department.  He was treated and released for a broken eye socket, rib fracture among other injuries.

Mullen surrendered himself to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office on April 27.  He is free on a $3,000 bond.
